Sent off as the heavy favorite, Cirrus des Aigles drew off powerfully in the Longchamp homestretch to win the 9.75 furlong Prix Dollar (Fr-I) by a dominating seven lengths.
Making his first start since late May, Cirrus des Aigles settled into the fourth position early on under Olivier Peslier, patiently biding his time over a course labeled very soft. Three-eighths of a mile from home, the six-year-old gelded son of Even Top made a bold run to seize command of the advantage, then drew away powerfully to win by a huge margin while stopping the clock in 2:07.95 seconds.
Hunter's Light finished third by a neck over Saga Dream, who was in turn a neck clear of Colombian. Don Bosco, Maxios, Red Dubawi, and Green Destiny completed the order of finish.
Trained by Corine Barande-Barbe, Cirrus des Aigles won the Prix Dollar in 2010 and finished second in 2011. However, his runner-up effort last year was followed by a victory in the prestigious Champion Stakes (Eng-I) over So You Think and Snow Fairy, so Cirrus des Aigles appears to be heading into the 2012 Champion Stakes in exceptional form.

Qatar Prix Dollar Entries: Cirrus des Aigles preps for Champions Stakes
2011 QIPCO Champion Stakes (Eng-I) winner Cirrus des Aigles will prep for a repeat victory in that race when he heads to post against eight others in the Qatar Prix Dollar Stakes (Fr-II) on Saturday at Longchamp.
Trained by Corine Barande Barbe, the six-year-old gelded son of Even Top has been in strong form this year, defeating strong fields in the Longines Dubai Sheema Classic (UAE-I) and Prix Ganay Stakes (Fr-I). However, he has not raced since finishing a close second to Golden Lilac in the Prix d'Ispahan on May 27th, and he may need to get this race under his belt before returning to peak form.
His primary opposition in the 1 3/16th miles race is expected to come from Hunter's Light, who is coming off of a five-length triumph in group II stakes in Turkey. Chinchon, winner of the group I Singapore Airlines International Cup last time out, could also contend if he fires his best shot.
