Gordon Lord Byron, the second choice in a field of eleven, took over the lead in the Longchamp homestretch and dug deep to win the group I Qatar Prix de la Foret by 1 1/2 lengths.
Ridden to victory by William Buick, Gordon Lord Byron raced fairly close to the early pace for much of the race, a couple of lengths behind pace-setting Lethal Force. Penitent was also close to the pace.
Inside the final four hundred meters, Penitent moved up to take command of the lead, but Gordon Lord Byron soon moved up to challenge, and after a brief duel, moved away to win in game fashion while stopping the clock for seven furlongs in 1:25.17 seconds.
Kendam rallied to finish a neck behind Penitent in third, while three lengths clear of Pintura. Mashoora, Blue Soave, Nice Association, Zantenda, Sommerabend, Lethal Force, and Starspangledbanner completed the order of finish.
The winner is a four-year-old gelded son of Byron out of Boa Estrela, by Intikhab. Trained by Tom Hogan and owned by Morgan J. Cahalan and Adolf Schneider, Gordon Lord Byron has compiled a record of 6-6-4 from 22 starts.

Prix de la Foret Entries: Starspangledbanner tries to regain old glory
Multiple group I winner and champion sprinter Starspangledbanner will attempt to find his way back to the winner's circle for the first time in over two years when he runs in the Qatar Prix de la Foret on Sunday at Longchamp.
The six-year-old son of Choisir won a pair of group I races in England during the summer of 2010, claiming both the Diamond Jubilee Stakes and the July Cup in impressive fashion. But as things turned out, those remain his most recently victories, for after disappointing in two additional starts during 2010, he did not race during 2011. This year, he has started twice, finishing unplaced in the Patrick O'Leary Memorial Phoenix Sprint (Ire-III) and second in the Newbridge 200 Renaissance Stakes (Ire-III). A victory in the Foret would be a truly amazing accomplishment.
Post Positions:
1 Zantenda
2 Sommerabend

4 Blue Soave

6 Pintura
7 Gordon Lord Byron

2011 QATAR PRIX DE LA FORET RESULTS: DREAM AHEAD UPSETS GOLDIKOVA
Dream Ahead pulled off a mild upset in the seven-furlong group I Qatar Prix de La Foret at Longchamp, nabbing favored Goldikova in the shadow of the wire to win by a head.
Under jockey William Buick, Dream Ahead was entering the Foret off of a narrow victory in the Betfred Sprint Cup. Although he had previously never won a race longer than six furlongs, he was nevertheless one of the races major contenders and figured to have the best shot at defeating Goldikova.
Goldikova's pacemaker Flash Dance broke well and went straight to the lead, but was joined quickly by Worthadd. Goldikova was tucked into a perfect spot third along the rail, while Dream Ahead had settled on the outside in fourth. The positions remained pretty much unchanged until about four hundred meters from home, when Flash Dance drifted off the rail to let Goldikova through. The three-time Breeders' Cup Mile winner shot through along the inside under no urging to take the lead, but she soon had to brace herself for the challenge of Dream Ahead, who was coming on strongly despite checking off Worthadd's heels in the stretch. A thrilling duel ensued, with Goldikova maintaining a narrow advantage for much of the stretch and Dream Ahead drifted to the outside, and then back to the inside. But in the final strides, Dream Ahead got the measure of his older rival and won by a head in 1:18.10.
Surfrider finished a very distant third, while Bewitched completed the superfecta.
