An early look at the BC Classic field

With the Breeders' Cup pre-entries being released tomorrow morning, and with final entries being taken in just one week, I thought it would be interesting to take a look at the expected field for the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I), if only to see how it changes during the next ten days.

Here is the projected field, complete with expected jockey assignments:

Declaration of War - Joseph O'Brien
Flat Out - Joel Rosario
Fort Larned - Brian Hernandez
Game On Dude - Mike Smith
Graydar - Edgar Prado
Last Gunfighter - Javier Castellano
Moreno - Jose Ortiz
Mucho Macho Man - Gary Stevens
Palace Malice - John Velazquez
Paynter - Martin Garcia
Ron the Greek - Jose Lezcano
Will Take Charge - Luis Saez

Graydar is expected to be pre-entered in both the Classic and the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (gr. I), with the former being his first preference.

One other possible Classic entrant is Planteur, who has finished third in the last two runnings of the $10 million Dubai World Cup (UAE-I). The six-year-old son of Danehill Dancer was being seriously considered for a start in the Classic, but following a twelfth-place finish in the Qatar Prix Dollar (Fr-II) on October 5th, his status is somewhat in question.
