Fort Larned breezes for the second time in four days

With the Breeders' Cup less than two weeks away, defending Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) winner Fort Larned breezed five furlongs in a bullet 1:00 3/5 this morning at Churchill Downs, which marked the second work in four days for the five-year-old son of E Dubai.

Trained by Ian Wilkes, Fort Larned had previously breezed a half-mile in :49 flat on October 19th, which was his third work since winning the $175,000 Homecoming Classic Stakes on September 28th at Churchill Downs.

Fort Larned won the 2012 Breeders' Cup Classic by a half-length over Mucho Macho Man, capping a season that also saw him win the Whitney Handicap (gr. I), Prairie Meadows Cornhusker Handicap (gr. III), Skip Away Stakes (gr. III), and Challenger Stakes, as well as placing second in the Alysheba Stakes (gr. II) and third in the Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I). This year, Fort Larned has won the Stephen Foster Handicap (gr. I) in addition to his victory in the Homecoming Classic.
