Somewhat surprisingly, the favorite is expected to be a horse that has never one a race, that being Calculator. The Florida-bred son of In Summation missed the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) with a minor injury, but previously ran second to the well-regarded American Pharoah in both the FrontRunner Stakes (gr. I) and Del Mar Futurity (gr. I), stamping himself as a colt of very high quality. Calculator has been training very well for this race, most recently breezing six furlongs in 1:11 3/5 at Santa Anita on January 4th.
