Eblouissante, the six-year-old half-sister to 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta, has been entered to race on January 11th in the $75,000 Paseana Stakes at Santa Anita Park.
The 8.5-furlong race has drawn a field of eight, in which Eblouissante has drawn post position seven. Trained by John Shirreffs, Eblouissante has not run since finishing seventh in a turf allowance race at Del Mar on August 24th, 2014. However, she has trained well for her return, most recently breezing five furlongs in 1:01 1/5 at Santa Anita on January 4th, and figures to turn in an improved performance on Sunday. Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens has been named to ride the daughter of Bernardini.
Other prominent fillies that have been entered in the Paseana include Bayakoa Stakes (gr. II) winner Tiz Midnight, Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I) starter Valiant Emilia, and 2013 Hollywood Starlet Stakes (gr. I) runner-up Taste Like Candy.
