Reckless Abandon remains undefeated in Middle Park Stakes

The magnificent Reckless Abandon brought his undefeated record to a perfect 5-for-5 when he held off a late bid from Moohaajim to win the Vision.ae Middle Park Stakes (Eng-I) at Newmarket by a neck.

Ridden to victory by Gerald Mosse, Reckless Abandon showed speed from the start and quickly assumed his customary position at the front of the pack. After setting a moderate pace for about four furlongs, he was challenged by Moohaajim, who moved up strongly inside the final four hundred meters to take command briefly. However, Reckless Abandon had enough left in the tank to regain the lead and continue on strongly to win the six-furlong race by a neck in 1:11.06.

Gale Force Ten finished another neck behind Moohaajim in third, followed then by Cristoforo Colombo, Parliament Square, Hototo, Master of War, Wexford Opera, Blaine, and Heavy Metal.

The winner is a son of Exchange Rate out of the Efisio mare Sant Elena. Trained by Clive Vox, Reckless Abandon's other major victories include the Darley Prix Morny (Fr-I) and the Prix Robert Papin (Fr-II).

As the Middle Park Stakes is a "Win and You're In" for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Sprint, Reckless Abandon has secured a fees-paid berth to that race, should his connections choose to run him there.
