Delta Downs Jackpot Stakes (gr. III) winner Goldencents is among the six horses that have been entered in the $100,000 Sham Stakes (gr. III), which will be contested on January 5th at Santa Anita Park.
The one-mile event is the first major Kentucky Derby prep race of the year in California, and offers ten Kentucky Derby qualification points to the winner.
Goldencents, a son of Into Mischief that is trained by Doug O'Neill, comes into this race off of some exceptional workouts at Santa Anita, the most recent being six furlongs in a swift 1:10.20 on December 27th. In addition to his Delta Jackpot victory, he also has a runner-up effort in the prestigious Champagne Stakes (gr. I) on his resume.
Trainer Bob Baffert has entered a pair of colts: Den's Legacy, most recently third in the CashCall Futurity (gr. I), and Manando, a highly-promising maiden winner.
Dry Summer, winner of the Oak Tree Juvenile Turf Stakes; Greeley Awesome, dominating winner of a maiden claiming race; and Dirty Swagg, third in the Real Quiet Stakes, complete the lineup.
Post Positions:
1 Den's Legacy
2 Goldencents
3 Greeley Awesome
4 Dry Summer
5 Dirty Swagg
6 Manando
