C. S. Silk set a slow pace and kicked away in the stretch to score a convincing victory in the $400,000 Just a Game Handicap (gr. I) this afternoon at Belmont Park.
Sent off at 12-1, C. S. Silk went straight to the front and set a very slow pace of :25.24 and :50.58 while being tracked by Much Rejoicing. Amen Hallelujah was tucked into third along the rail, with Cherokee Queen, favored Aviate, and Gypsy's Warning not far behind either. Fantasia, the 9-2 second choice, was last.
C. S. Silk continued to lead the field around the far turn, running three-quarters of a mile in 1:15.59. Much Rejoicing confronted her as the field turned for home, but C. S. Silk found another gear under Javier Castellano and powered away for a three-length victory while drifting out late. The final time was 1:40.53.
Fantasia rallied late for second, while Amen Hallelujah finished third. Justaroundmidnight completed the superfecta.
