PANTS ON FIRE WINS THE PEGASUS!

Louisiana Derby winner Pants On Fire, coming off of a ninth-place finish in the Kentucky Derby, held of Concealed Identity in the stretch of the Pegasus Stakes (gr. III) at Monmouth Park to win the event by two lengths.

Under Rosie Napravnik, the colt stumbled a little bit at the start but quickly moved up to track the early pace set by Turbo Compressor and Harlan's Hello. The opening fractions were :23 3/5 and :47 1/5. Concealed Identity was back in fourth, and far behind was Clarke Lane.

Approaching the far turn, Pants On Fire and Concealed Identity began to move up together on the outside and inside, respectively. However, Concealed Identity got into a tight spot and was forced to check, losing several lengths. In the meantime, Pants On Fire cruised past the leaders and took the lead. Concealed Identity came on well to finish second, followed by Turbo Compressor and Harlan's Hello. Clarke Lane lost touch with the field on the far turn and finished dead last.
