Awesome Feather brought her unbeaten streak to six wins when she put away R Heat Lightning in late stretch to win the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies by a little over a length.
Having raced at Calder Race Course for her entire career, Awesome Feather was a bit of a question mark against this classy group of juveniles, but she proved classiest of all under jockey Jeffrey Sanchez.
The early pace was set by R Heat Lightning, who broke quickly andwent straight to the lead. Several other horses were in contention for second, and Awesome Feather was never too far back.
As the field turned for home, Awesome Feather moved up to challenge R Heat Lightning on the outside and the two fillies dualed down the homestretch, with Awesome Feather finally pulling away late to score.
R Heat Lightning held second, with Delightful Mary finishing third. Impressive maiden winner Believe in A.P. finished fourth.
The final time was 1:45 flat.
