TOBY'S CORNER WINS THE WHIRLAWAY!

Toby's Corner, the lightly regarded fourth choice at 9-2, drew off in deep stretch to win the $100,000 Whirlaway Stakes by two lengths.

Ridden by Eddie Castro, Toby's Corner sat last in the early going, well off of the early pace set by J J's Lucky Train and Preachintothedevil. Rescind the Trade was right in behind them, followed by Aurthur's Tale, who was just in front of Toby's Corner.

Over a main track labeled good, J J's Lucky Train put Preachintothedevil away around the far turn and then accepted the challenge of Rescind the Trade, who moved up on the outside to challenge. In the meantime, Toby's Corner was beginning his run.

Into the homestretch J J's Lucky Train led the way, but Toby's Corner was coming fast. The pair dueled for much of the stretch before Toby's Corner got the upper hand and drew away to win.

The final time for the mile and a sixteenth event was 1:45.66.
