IT'S TRICKY WINS THE DISTAFF HANDICAP!

It's Tricky brought her 2012 record to a perfect 2-for-2 with an authoritative victory in Aqueduct's $200,000 Distaff Handicap (gr. II), winning by three lengths despite appearing hopelessly beaten around the turn.

Sent off as the 3-5 favorite against four rivals, It's Tricky got off to a good start and settled into the third position early on as Dontbeshy I'll Buy and Nicole H set a good pace of :22.51 and :45.13. White Merlot was right behind them in fourth, followed by stretch-running C C's Pal.

As the field made their way around the turn, Dontbeshy I'll Buy continued to show the pace over Nicole H, with It's Tricky right behind them. However, it appeared as though It's Tricky was beginning to tire, for jockey Eddie Castro began to really ask her for run as the field approached the homestretch, even going to the whip.

But even though It's Tricky appeared to be on her way to defeat, her class pulled through, as she roared past the leaders in the stretch before going on to win by three lengths, stopping the clock for seven furlongs in 1:22.39, a very sharp time indeed.

C C's Pal came running late for second, but was never a threat to the winner. Dontbeshy I'll Buy, Nicole H, and White Merlot completed the order of finish.

The winner is owned by Godolphin Racing and trained by Kiaran McLaughlin.
