Trinniberg added yet another graded stakes victory to his record when he turned back a stretch challenge from Hardened Wildcat to win the $250,000 Bay Shore Stakes (gr. III) this afternoon at Aqueduct by about four lengths.
Ridden to victory by Willie Martinez, Trinniberg got off to an excellent start and was sent straight to the lead, setting a moderate pace of :23.46 and :47.41 while being tracked by King and Crusader and Copy My Wagger. Hardened Wildcat was well off of the early pace.
Rounding the turn, Trinniberg began to pull away from his rivals, and turned for home with a sizable advantage. Hardened Wildcat was closing strongly in between horses, but was never really a threat to Trinniberg, who turned back his run with authority to win in dominating fashion, stopping the clock for seven furlongs in 1:23.46.
Hardened Wildcat finished much the best of the rest, while How Do I Win and Maan rounded out the superfecta. The winner is owned by Shivananda Racing and trained by Bisnath Parboo.
