Game On Dude romps in Awesome Again Stakes

Game On Dude brought his record at Santa Anita to a perfect 5-for-5 on Saturday afternoon when he romped to an easy victory in the $250,000 Awesome Again Stakes (gr. I).

Ridden to victory by Rafael Bejarano, Game On Dude got off to a good start from post position one and was able to work his way to the outside as Winning Machine sprinted to the early lead. Game On Dude then settled into a tracking position in second on the outside, with Rail Trip and Nonios also fairly close to the pace. Suggestive Boy and Groovin' Solo were next in line, followed then by Empire Way, Balladry, and Richard's Kid.

The positions remained virtually unchanged through fractions of :23.23, :48.02, and 1:11.94 seconds, but rounding the final turn, Game On Dude made a bold run to take command of the lead and entered the homestretch comfortably in front. Nonios made a decent run to finish second, much the best of the rest, but Game On Dude was the easy winner, coasting home to win by 3 1/4 lengths while stopping the clock for nine furlongs in 1:48.98.

Richard's Kid rallied mildly to secure third place, 4 1/2 lengths behind Nonios, while Rail Trip, Suggestive Boy, Winning Machine, Empire Way, Groovin' Solo, and Balladry completed the order of finish.

Trained by Bob Baffert, Game On Dude is a gelded son of Awesome Again out of the Devil His Due mare Worldly Pleasure. He is owned by Diamond Pride LLC, Lanni Family Trust, Mercedes Stable LLC, and B. Schiappa.
