Trained by Todd Pletcher, Turbo Compressor has had a banner season overall, winning the $500,000 Colonial Turf Cup Stakes and placing in the Florida Sunshine Millions Classic Stakes in addition to his United Nations victory. He will be shortening up to ten furlongs in distance for Sunday's race, which should suit him better than the twelve-furlongs he was asked to traverse in the Sword Dancer.
Other logical contenders in the John Henry include Bourbon Bay, winner of seven graded stakes races on the southern California circuit; Casino Host, winner of the Del Mar Handicap (gr. II); and Slim Shadey, who placed in a pair of grade I turf races earlier this year.
