Executiveprivilege burst through an opening along the rail to seize command of the $150,000 Landaluce Stakes and bring her record to a perfect 2-for-2 with a highly impressive victory.
Ridden to victory by Rafael Bejarano for trainer Bob Baffert, Executiveprivilege got off to a much better start today than she did in her impressive debut performance, in which she broke very slowly before rallying from well off the pace to secure the victory. Thus, she found herself racing in third during the early stages of the Landaluce, just a couple of lengths behind pace-setting Unusual Way. Wildcat Angie was racing in second, while Speedinthruthecity, Miss Empire, Renee's Queen, Ten Plush, and O Happy Gray were the early trailers.
Rounding the turn, Speedinthruthecity made a bold run on the outside to take command of the lead, but Executiveprivilege soon found racing room along the rail and burst through to take over the lead. Speedinthruthecity was able to stay with the favorite for a few strides, but Executiveprivilege eventually proved too good, drawing off in deep stretch to win by about 3 1/2 lengths. The final time for six furlongs was 1:11.49.
Miss Empire finished third, followed by Renee's Queen, O Happy Gray, Wildcat Angie, Ten Plush, and Unusual Way.
