REDEEMED WINS THE GREENWOOD CUP STAKES!

Odds-on favorite Redeemed added yet another graded stakes victory to his record this afternoon at Parx Racing, holding off a late run from Not Abroad to win the $200,000 Greenwood Cup Stakes (gr. III) by three-quarters of a length.

Ridden to victory by Ramon Dominguez for trainer Rick Dutrow Jr., Redeemed broke alertly from the rail and quickly went to the lead, setting a moderate pace of :49 1/5 and 1:14 4/5 while leading by a large margin over Hello Lover and Not Abroad. Eversoul was racing in fourth, followed by Doublethestyle and Win Willy.

Moving down the backstretch, Not Abroad began to close the gap between he and Redeemed, and the two spent the remainder of the race with little more than a length between them. In the homestretch, they put on a terrific show throughout the homestretch, with the result of the race being in question down to the final sixteenth of a mile. At the finish, it was Redeemed clinging to the lead in courageous fashion, stopping the clock for a mile-and-a-half in 2:28 flat.

Hello Lover finished a distant third, while Win Willy completed the superfecta.
