Broadway's Alibi absolutely dominated her rivals in the seven-furlong Forward Gal Stakes (gr. II) at Gulfstream Park this afternoon, drawing away powerfully under hand ride in the stretch to win by fifteen, perhaps even twenty lengths.
Sent off as the 6-5 favorite under jockey John Velazquez, the Todd Pletcher-trainee got off to a quick start and went straight to the lead. Say a Novena and Yara were racing together in second, followed by Sacristy on the outside in fourth with Quick Flip and Good Deed trailing the field.
The pace was quick, with Broadway's Alibi showing the way through fractions of :22.35 and :44.94 while leading comfortably. Around the turn she began to pull away from the field, leaving Say a Novena behind and Sacristy behind. In the homestretch, she continued to pour on the speed and left the field far behind, powering away to win in a simply breathtaking performance. The final time was a quick 1:21.94 over a sloppy sealed track.
Say a Novena held off Sacristy for second, while Yara completed the superfecta.
