MUCHO MACHO MAN WINS THE FLORIDA MILLIONS CLASSIC!

Mucho Macho turned a pace-pressing trip into sharp victory in the Florida Sunshine Millions Classic at Gulfstream Park, coasting home to a two-length victory under Ramon Dominguez.

The colt, who is trained by Kathy Ritvo, broke cleanly at the start and settled into the second spot behind pace-setting Turbo Compressor, who rattled off fractions of :24.31 and :48.02. Adios Charlie and Ron the Greek were back racing in a joint third, followed by Duke of Mischief, Dream Maestro, and Decaf Again.

The third quarter was a testing one, as Mucho Macho Man put the pressure on Turbo Compressor and forced the leader to run three-quarters in 1:10.84, which equates to a :22.82 third quarter. This testing fraction caused Turbo Compressor to give way, leaving Mucho Macho Man alone on the lead.

Ron the Greek closed in late to finish a second, but was never really a threat to the winner, who completed the nine-furlong event in 1:47.91. Turbo Compressor held third off a late-running Duke of Mischief.
