Even-money favorite Compari rallied from third to take the $100,000 Sensational Star Stakes by a length and a half under Mike Smith.
The early pace was set by Ain't No Other and My Summer Slew, who ran an opening quarter mile in :22.22 and a half in :43.92 as they raced along the downhill turf course. Compari was down in third along the rail, followed by Red Defense and Tamarack Smarty.
As the field entered the homestretch, My Summer Slew took over the lead from Ain't No Other, but Compari was charging hard on the outside and continued on strongly to win the race in decisive fashion, stopping the clock in 1:12.02 for the about 6-1/2 furlong event. My Summer Slew held second over Red Defense, with Ain't No Other and Tamarack Smarty completing the order of finish.
