CALIBRACHOA WINS THE TOM FOOL HANDICAP!

Calibrachoa won his second straight Tom Fool Handicap (gr. III) this afternoon at Aqueduct, holding off a furious late run from Caleb's Posse to win the six-furlong event by a neck.

Ridden to victory by Cornelio Velasquez, Calibrachoa settled into the third position early on as Royal Currier and favored Emcee set a quick pace of :22.44 and :44.92. Justin Phillip was racing in third, followed by Capt. Candyman Can and stretch-running Caleb's Posse.

Turning for home, Emcee moved up to take over the lead from Royal Currier, but Calibrachoa was looming a serious threat on the outside and soon took over the lead. Caleb's Posse was flying home late on the far outside, but simply ran out of ground. Calibrachoa held on for a narrow victory in the good time of 1:09.07.

Emcee held on to third, while Capt. Candyman Can rounded out the superfecta. The winner is owned by Repole Stable and trained by Todd Pletcher.
