Here are the entries and post positions for the $350,000 Tampa Bay Derby (gr. II), to be run on Saturday at Tampa Bay Downs at one-mile and a sixteenth in distance. A major prep race for the $2,000,000 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), a number of quality horses have used this race as a stepping stone toward the Kentucky Derby, including 2007 Derby winner Street Sense and 2010 Derby winner Super Saver. The 2012 edition of the Tampa Bay Derby has drawn a large and talented field of young runners, including Sam F. Davis Stakes (gr. III) winner Battle Hardened, Pasco Stakes winner Prospective, and the highly talented Todd Pletcher-trainee Spring Hill Farm.
